The Durham Schools cross country championships were held on Saturday 11th January at Meadowfield Leisure Centre. Lizzie Cramb and Cameron Stainsby both qualified to gain County honours at the schools inter counties, which will also take place at Meadowfield.
Shildon had a great turnout at the recent N.Y.S.D xc at Summerhill Country Park. In the U11s age group Adam Hanby (17th), Harry Cullen (22nd) and Leighton Ince (24th) represented the boys, while Millie Foster (9th) and Izzy Cullen (19th) flew the flag for the girls.All produced commendable performances in the cold muddy conditions.
Over in the U13s age group Ryan Watson ran an excellent race to finish 7th and Meg Gibson finished a battling 16th.
Shannon Ross was the club’s sole representative in the u17 age group during the combined u17/u20/ SW race. Shannon gave a gutsy run to finish 9th u17. Amy Etherington and Elizabeth Wood produced strong runs to finish 1st and 2nd in the u20 women.
The senior ladies were well represented in the combined race with Lynne Foster (7th in v40), Jeanette Turner (24.19), Hazel Johnson (5th in v35), Donna Dunbar (6th in v35), Julie Cane (7th in v40), Pat Edwards (2nd in v55), Helen Race (58th), Nicola Dent (10th in v40), Irene Ross (7th in v45), Andrea Lowery (9th in v45) and Sarah Tilley (31.43) all deserving praise for their strong performances.
Ian Rudge (19th in v40) and David Beadle (52.10) were the senior men’s representatives and again ran fine races.
