Residents of Ferryhill turned out in their numbers, organising a large street party to say farewell to local shopkeepers, Simon and Geeta Sharma last Friday. The couple who have been running SGS GoLocal Community Convenience Store in Haig Terrace for 35 years are retiring to join family in Leicester.
Town mayor, Cllr Curtis Bihari dropped by to say farewell and present the couple with a Ferryhill crested whisky tumbler as a reminder of the town, and as a small thank you for being such a big part of the community for so long.
Mayor, Bihari said: โSimon and Geeta will be missed by so many people. They have been a big part of this community and we wish them all the best as they leave for pastures new in Leicester.โ
Mr Sharma said: โI just want to say a big thank you to everyone for all their support, although we are moving away we still intend to remain a part of the Ferryhill community.โ
