Youngsters from Byerley Road Pre School had their first experience of Guerrilla Gardening this week.
The younger of the groups, aged just 2, happily prepared and planted wooden planters outside their nursery on Byerley Road with Marigolds, Snap dragons and Geraniums and had lots of fun digging over the soil and choosing their flowers.
While the older group, age 3 and over, planted stone planters in Hackworth Park with Petunias.
The youngsters learned about looking after the roots of the plants as they carefully planted them with teachers from Byerley Road Pre School and volunteers from Shildon Alive.
“As always a huge thank you to Shildon Town council for delivering the compost and plants and supporting our young people with these activities,” said a spokesperson.
