Police seize cannabis grow

Officers from County Durham’s Shildon and Sedgefield Neighbourhood Teams, have seized a significant cannabis grow in Alexandra Street following a tip off from a member of the public.

A Durham Police spokesperson said: “The address contained a professional cannabis grow set up.
“Being particularly dangerous as it was connected directly to the external electricity supply meaning we had to call the experts to make the property safe before entering.”

“There are lots of reasons why we target cannabis grows, not limited to: They are usually linked to organised and international crime, are directly linked to the exploitation of vulnerable people and are a huge fire risk. Cannabis grows are also illegal.”
