A little bit of autumn magic is coming to Ferryhill this October. The Humble Garden CIC is getting ready to welcome local families to a special Pumpkin Picking afternoon at the East End Allotments in Ferryhill.
Taking place on Sunday 18 October, from 2pm–3pm, the fully funded children’s event will give local youngsters the chance to get outdoors, enjoy the allotment and choose their very own pumpkin ready for Halloween.
The Humble Garden CIC was created to make gardening and access to green space more accessible to the local community.
Based at the East End Allotments, the garden has been transformed from an overgrown community plot into a welcoming space where children, families and adults can learn, grow and spend time together.
Events such as the pumpkin picking afternoon are part of that bigger vision: bringing people together through gardening, nature and shared experiences, without cost being a barrier.
Places for the pumpkin picking event are fully funded, but booking is essential as numbers are limited.
Families attending are asked to remember that this is an outdoor allotment site, so suitable clothing and footwear are recommended. There are no toilets on site.
The Humble Garden CIC is continuing to develop its programme of community activities, with gardening groups, children’s sessions, wellbeing activities and opportunities for local residents to get involved throughout the year.
