The Chilton Miners’ Welfare Recreation Ground (Charity Trust) is delighted to announce the return of adult and children’s bowls to Pavilion Park.
The park has been home to a bowling green since 1925 but unfortunately hasn’t had an active bowls club for a number of years. The current partnership between the Trust and Chilton Croquet Club has allowed us to carry out a much-needed maintenance programme to improve the condition of Green/Lawn, providing an opportunity to re-establish a Chilton Bowls Club and to support grass roots bowling for younger players.
Following a successful meeting between all parties, working out the logistics of two clubs playing on the green and options for joint initiatives to promote both sports to the Chilton community, the new bowls club will come into operation from March 2026.

“Sue Reece and her fellow trustees are very enthusiastic about community use which helps us to share our own enthusiasm for our sport and our ambition to grow a community activity for everyone. We can’t wait to get started and form new friendships with the local Croquet Club.
“We are forming a new bowls club called Chilton Excavators and expanding the horizons of an existing children’s bowls club in That’s How We Roll 24 BC.
