Wednesday 13th November will see the presentation of the Shildon Young People’s Awards 2012/13 at the Civic Hall; an event which is being held to reward the efforts of young people in Shildon.
An organiser of the event commented, “Day after day, young people make a contribution to our society and far too often this goes unnoticed and unrewarded. From sport to the arts, from the unknown to the extraordinary, SCYPAN wants to say a big thank you.”
“This is a chance for you to make your contribution by nominating an individual or group for their achievements during 2012/13.
Do you know a young person who is always helping others, a young person who has achieved their goal despite great disadvantage and obstacles? Does your group have a leader who inspires you to go that extra mile? Do you know a young person who has excelled in sport? Do you know a young person or group who have made an impact on their community through their actions?”

Categories include a Performing Arts Award, Creative Arts Award, Community Champion Award, Sports Award, Young Person’s Choice (Adult Award), School Award and the Chloe Clark Special Achievement and Recognition Award.
“Please recognise their achievements and give them the accolade they rightly deserve,” continued the spokesperson.
The closing date for nominations is Friday 4th October.
The awards are supported by the Shildon Children and Youth People’s Action Network, Shildon Youth Council and Shildon Town Council and are funded by the Bishop Auckland and Shildon AAP Neighbourhood Budgets 2012/2013 of Cllr G Huntington and Cllr D Hancock.
