Auckland Moors United FC, a newly formed grassroots football club based in Spennymoor, have kicked off the new season for boys and girlsโ teams. Many of the players are from Spennymoor, Bishop Auckland, Ferryhill and the surrounding area and benefit from training locally at High Whitworth playing fields on Carr Street, Spennymoor.
The clubโs players visited the Poundland store in Bishop Auckland, to celebrate their recent grant award. The club received a community grant award of over ยฃ545 for the purchase of new kit for the U14 girls team and the Poundland Foundation will be the teams shirt sponsor for this season.
The Foundation brings together all charitable activity, including generous donations from customers, inspirational fundraising by colleagues and support from suppliers.
This was a great opportunity for the team to show off the new kit to staff at the store and thank them for support. The newly formed grassroots club will benefit from this sponsorship, to complete its setup and preparation for the coming season.
Auckland Moors Grants Officer Nicola Woodgate said: โAs a new club, we are grateful to receive a grant from Poundland Foundation to enable us to purchase match kits for our girlsโ team in their first season. Itโs great to know that the money raised from these stores including those in our local area, is being used within our communityโ.
Auckland Moors United U14s are competing in the Russell Foster Youth League and will also train twice a week throughout the year. The team is already off to a great start with maximum points from their first two league games, as well as progressing through to the second round of the league cup.
If anyone is interested in joining Auckland Moors United, there are currently places available for U10 boys (Year 6) and U14s girls (Year 9). Contact the club at amunitedfc[@]gmail[.]com or follow them on Facebook.
