The new banner was officially handed over to 1st Chilton Scouts by members of Chilton Scooter Club.

On Saturday 3 September, as well as the unveiling of the memorial to the men of Windlestone Colliery who died fighting in the Great War, a new banner was presented to the 1st Chilton Scouts group.

The banner was handed over to Chilton Scouts, Cubs and Beavers by members of Chilton Scooter Club, with the money for the banner being raised by a donation from the Wheatsheaf Old Boys Thursday Club.

A collection by Edward Slater and James Moffatt in the Wheatsheaf, added to the overall amount.

After the cost of the Windlestone Colliery memorial was finalised, there was a surplus of £222.40 from the original £1,500 raised and the money was donated to the Chilton Scouts by the Chilton Town Crier, Norman Strongman. He presented the money to Scout Leader, Michelle Morley on 19 October with an audience of Scouts, Cubs and Beavers. Norman also gave a rousing speech in his full Town Crier attire, much to the delight of all present.

On behalf of the 1st Chilton Scouts, Michelle thanked the whole community for their kindness in regard of the new banner and donation.
