Trades4Care have completed another successful project helping the residents of Whorlton village spruce up their much-loved village hall. All emulsion used was supplied by community repaint. Around 100lt was used which could have ended up in landfills but instead is being put to good use on yet another community building.
Charlie Wright, co-founder of Trades4Care said: “Our young people have worked extremely hard to transform the hall and the committee and local residents are delighted with all the team’s efforts. We’d like to thank all the local residents who popped in with cakes and treats for the team it as always very much appreciated”.
The team were also followed by a BBC film crew for a story about community repaint for the BBC1 Morning Live show. The show aired on 9 June but is available on iPlayer. Charlie said: “It was an amazing and enjoyable experience for the youngsters to have the film crew on site. Community repaint were contacted by the BBC and asked what projects were going on where their paint was being used. I had a call from a BBC researcher and they decided to travel to the North East to film Trades4Care, which we feel is a great testament to all the hard work our local young adults have put in over the last four years.”
“We’ve also had some other good news that our good friend Owen Wharton, who has worked with us on all projects since the new year, and even worked his holidays, has been given a full apprenticeship by Raby Estate. We spoke to Raby about Owen then took him along to meet them with his CV and testimonials and after some great conversations and him applying himself extremely well, he was offered the apprenticeship. All at trades4care could not be more pleased for him and wish him all the best.”
