Mayor of Ferryhill, Councillor Angus Ferguson has decided to set himself a challenge as a way of raising some funds for his chosen charities and will be doing sponsored weight loss challenge.
Following a weigh-in at Ferryhill Town Hall last week, the Mayor’s current weight was recorded as 18 stone, 7lbs, 2 ounces.
Cllr Ferguson is asking people for sponsorship to go towards his charity fundraising and support him in his bid to shed the pounds, with his target set at 16 stone.
The Mayor said: “As the new mayor of Ferryhill, I’m proud to support my two local charities, Little Treasures and Stray Aid.
“For my own physical and mental wellbeing, I need to lose weight.
“Over the past four years, I’ve had a series of life-threatening medical conditions from which I’m still recovering. I need to lose weight to improve my life expectancy, it’s as simple as that really.
“I aim to lose two stones (28 pounds, or 13kg) before Christmas of this year. Who knows, I may make it to 15 stones, or three stones lost in the same time.
“Please support me in this aim by sending donations. This could be one lump sum or a calculation based upon pounds lost, so maybe £1 per pound lost. Thank you for your support.”
If you would like to support the Mayor by way of sponsorship, sponsorship forms are available to complete at Ferryhill Town Hall, Little Treasures and Stray Aid or alternatively you can call 01740 652157 or email enquiries[@]ferryhill[.]gov[.]uk or email Cllr Ferguson direct at angus[.]ferguson[@]icloud[.]com to add your name to the form.
You can either donate £1 for every pound lost or any amount would be greatly appreciated.
Little Treasures is a charity founded in Ferryhill for autistic children and young people which provides activities outside of school and usual work times.
Stray Aid, based in Coxhoe, provides valuable recuperation support for stray or unwanted dogs and cats before rehoming.
The results of Angus’ weight loss challenge will be revealed before the Christmas break.
