Mayor hosts at home event to celebrate Civic Hall rededication

Shildon Mayor, Cllr Shirley Quinn was joined at the Civic Hall by Deputy Lord Lieutenant, Jenny Flynn MBE.

Shildon’s Mayor, Cllr Shirley Quinn, hosted the first fundraising event of her mayoral year as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations since the official opening of Shildon Civic Hall.

Cllr Quinn was joined by Deputy Lord Lieutenant, Jenny Flynn MBE to cut the ribbon in the hall’s rededication ceremony, which was conducted by Rev. Carol Harris of St John’s Church. John and Brenda Vickers also joined the celebrations as they were the first couple to celebrate their wedding at the Civic Hall back in 1973.

Mayors from across the region were also present and were entertained by pupils from Timothy Hackworth Primary School.

Mayor Quinn said: “I would like to say thank you to everyone who attended. All funds raised today will be donated to my appeal, which will benefit local causes.”
