The Butterwick Hospice has benefited greatly from the generosity of a local business, after giving the owner a tour of its services.
Wilson’s Veterinary Group, which has practices in Bishop Auckland, Newton Aycliffe and Spennymoor, recently donated £3,500 to Butterwick Hospice, who care for a range of patients with life-limiting illnesses from across our region.
Mr Wilson, who has supported Butterwick Hospice since 2007, attended the Hospice’s first Business Breakfast Meeting in December and was given the opportunity of a tour, during which he was able to see how his donations have helped care for patients.
Paul Wilson, owner of the practice, was happy that his donation would make a big different to the charity and said, “I have always believed strongly that everyone should give back to their local community. Having worked with Butterwick Volunteers linked with the Town Centre Forum, my wife Jane and I, decided that we would make Butterwick Hospice one of the charities that we would give to every year as they supply a service in supporting the people of Bishop Auckland that is second to none.”
Lindsey Brown, a community fundraiser for Butterwick Hospice said, “Wilson Veterinary Group have supported us greatly over the last 5 years, having donated more than £11,100 during that time.”
