Students in Years 7, 8 and 9 at King James I Academy have been treated to a captivating live performance by the up-and-coming boyband Absnt Mind, followed by a thought-provoking discussion on mental health, body image and cyber bullying.
With five members, all of whom originate from different parts of the UK, the band features impressive vocal harmonies and song-writing talent, not to mention the ability to play multiple instruments.
The band name itself comes from the boys, who all feel that there is so much pressure to be a certain way in person and online, and to follow a certain path.
They wanted to make a statement and to reclaim the idea of living in the moment.
The group performed a set of original songs and popular covers to students in three sessions, before leading an open discussion about their personal experiences in secondary school, designed to promote meaningful conversation.
Students commented that they could relate to much of what band members had to say and that it was inspiring to hear how they had built resilience.
