Dear Editor,
I was delighted to have joined the National Farmers Union (NFU) to celebrate the importance of food and farming in County Durham as a Chilton county councillor.
In a meeting at The Light, our newest cultural destination, we discussed agriculture in the region and opportunities and challenges facing the farming sector, along with showcasing the contribution it makes to the county.
We also explored how both parties can continue to work together to support a thriving rural economy.
Attendees met with local farmers to hear about their work first-hand and show their support for an industry that plays such an important role in County Durham’s success and future.
Yours sincerely,
Cllr Stephen Bowron, County Councillor for Chilton
