You’ve been kind enough to publicise All Change, my new book about how the Shildon of 2025 is very different from the Shildon of my formative years in Albert Street.
Sub-titled “The years that rocked the Cradle of the Railways”, the book also recalls scores of warm and memorable Shildon characters – from the lovely Jenny Wren, a centenarian singer, to café owner’s son Wilf Scott who masterminded the fireworks for the late Queen’s Golden Jubilee. George Reynolds gets a mention, too.
The 225-page, large format book is now available from the wonderfully re-imagined Forget-Me-Not floristry in the old HSBC bank building at the top of Main Street where Kathryn Hume, the owner, is proving a brilliant salesperson and to whom I’m most grateful.
Kathryn also has cut-price copies of Unconsidered Trifles, my memoir of 50 years with The Northern Echo.
All Change costs £13 – folk who’ve already bought it are extremely enthusiastic.
