In a change to the previously advertised kick-off time, Ferryhill Athletic’s Washington Aged Person’s Trophy Semi-Final against Hetton Juniors FC this Saturday will now get underway at 2pm, rather than 2.30pm.
The game will take place at Dean Bank Recreation Park and is an opportunity for Athletic to reach their second cup final of the season, having already made it to the final of the Clem Smith Bowl, where they will face the winners of this weekend’s second semi-final between Belmont United and Durham City AFC.
Their own task this weekend will prove one of the toughest of the season to date against the Wearside League Division One champions elect.
Juniors have lost just one league game from 19 played so far this season and have only dropped a total of four points in the entire campaign.
Athletic, meanwhile, have played two games fewer, and while they are currently fifth in the table, their games in hand could see them rise as high as second place should they win them all, albeit West Auckland FC Reserves look favourites for second spot.
As the Chapter goes to press, Athletic prepare to travel the short distance to mid-table Coxhoe Athletic’s Beechfield Park on Wednesday, although there may be a pitch inspection prior to the game.
Then it will be on to the semi-final on Saturday and the opportunity to add another chapter to the new history of the revived football club.
