Cockton Hill Bowling Club based at Helena Terrace, is having a hard time with vandalism at the green being an ongoing problem, however, the club is looking for new players for the coming season.
They play in two leagues, on Monday evening and Wednesday afternoon, and run closed club competitions during the season.
The small, friendly club also has open bowling on a Friday afternoon with taster sessions planned for 2pm on Saturdays. Anyone can go along and join in to try the game, no matter their age.
In the past few year’s the club has lost a few players and is now hovering on the limit with no spare player for Monday games, where 12 people compromise a team.
Wednesday teams for people over 55 are usually able to field a full team of 9 players. Games typically last about 90 minutes.
The club committee has created a Facebook page, Cockton Hill Bowls, which it hopes to use to attract new players. They can also be contacted by email to CocktonHillBC[@]gmail[.]com.
Whether you are young or old, returning to bowls or even if you have never played before and want to know what it’s all about, you are invited along and join and make new friends.
The Spring General Meeting is on Saturday 6 April at 10.30am in the club house at DL14 6BP.
