Ferryhill Town Council has secured a total of £80,753 in external funding from the Football Foundation and Durham FA to purchase a new tractor and associated mowing equipment, and to cover professional pitch maintenance fees at Dean Bank Park and Mainsforth Sports Complex for the next six years.
The Football Foundation and Durham FA carried out an inspection of the town’s pitches and awarded the funding based on their assessment of the work required to bring the pitches up to a good quality standard for the many teams who use them.
Mayor, Councillor Curtis Bihari said: “On behalf of Ferryhill Town Council, I would like to say a huge thank you to the Football Foundation and Durham FA for contributing the funds needed to enable the town’s football pitches to be brought up to a top quality standard, for the benefit of the many football teams who use them.
“Thanks is also due for contributing funds towards the much needed machinery and equipment, which will aid Town Council staff in maintaining the facilities to the highest possible standard for years to come.”
