Constructed from Douglas fir and designed to reflect the shape and style of vessels used during the Viking age, due to its size the huge timber structure is being assembled in two sections before becoming the dramatic entrance into Land of the Vikings, one of the headline experiences within the new live action day park.
The Viking themed world will combine an immersive walk-through Norse settlement with a large scale seated live show for 1,250 people featuring combat, fire effects, stunts and a storyline centred on a Viking community fractured by internal conflict and competing loyalties.
Land of the Vikings forms part of Kynren – The Storied Lands, a major new visitor attraction combining live performance, historically themed environments and cinematic storytelling in a format organisers say has not previously been seen elsewhere in the UK.
Created by the team behind Kynren – An Epic Tale of England, the new attraction opens in Bishop Auckland this summer, with tickets going on sale on 18 May.
