The Spennymoor Probus Club has started its Autumn series of meetings, and is looking forward to its next two meetings in St David’s (Tudhoe) Church Hall, Tudhoe Lane.
On Tuesday morning, September 23 at 10am Gary Bankhead, adventurer, diver and climber extraordinaire, will be talking about his ascent of Cerro Aconagua in the Andes, the highest mountain in both the Southern and the Western Hemispheres with a summit elevation of 6,961 metres.
On 14 October, again at 10am, Mary Smith will be telling us the history of the nineteenth century Etherley Incline – a must for those interested in the development of the Durham coal fields and transportation.
The meetings are open to all, and the group looks forward to seeing you there.
Probus clubs are a local association of retired and semi-retired professional and business people, and others who have had some measure of responsibility in any field of worthy endeavour, who are of character and respected in their communities. Clubs meet regularly for fellowship and an extension of their interests.
