Ferryhill Town Council would like to thank everyone who contributed to this year’s Annual Town Meeting. The event was held at the Masonic Hall on 2nd May and included presentations by Ferryhill Town Council, Ferryhill Ladder Centre, Durham Constabulary, Ferryhill School, Ferryhill Scouts and The Ferryhill & Chilton Chapter.
The mayor of Ferryhill, Councillor Curtis Bihari, opened the proceedings, welcoming everyone to the meeting and thanking them for their attendance. Councillor Bihari then presented a cheque for £1,708.50 to a representative from the Teenage Cancer Trust, and a cheque each for £569.50 to Dean Bank Residents Association and The Broom Residents Association, who he had chosen to raise funds for in 2023-2024 during his term as mayor. A further cheque for £569.50 will also be presented to Ferryhill Station Residents Association, who unfortunately were unable to attend this year’s Town Meeting.
In closing the evening, Leeanne Owens, town clerk for Ferryhill Town Council invited everyone to stay and look around the information displays provided by local historian, Geoff Wall, Ferryhill Town Band, Ferryhill Scouts and Ferryhill Town Council, and to exchange ideas for the future.
The mayor, Councillor Curtis Bihari, said: ‘I would personally like to thank everyone who has been involved in this year’s Annual Town Meeting. The event demonstrates what a fantastic range of community groups and service providers we have available in the town, all of whom are doing a fantastic job. I am thrilled to have been a part of it. A big thank you also to the staff at the Masonic Hall, who were on hand throughout the evening providing refreshments.’
