The weather did not dampen the community spirit of St Charles RC Church parishioners on Sunday, July 16, when they gathered to celebrate the annual parish Family Day.
The celebration began with the Holy Mass, presided over by Fr Anthony Ohaekwusi, the parish priest, who welcomed all present and encouraged parishioners to keep the faith and nurture the bond of love that makes us one big family of God’s people.
Parishioners of all ages actively participated in the lively Mass and were led by parish altar servers in a procession with our Lady’s statue to the Grotto outside the church, singing hymns to Blessed Virgin Mary.
As parishioners gathered around the grotto, Fr Anthony led the prayers and service of blessing the graves. He blessed the flowers presented by the families and sprinkled Holy water on the people and all the graves in the parish cemetery as family members gathered around the graves of their loved ones.
After the prayer sessions, parishioners were treated to refreshments, a sumptuous BBQ, games and other entertainment. Parishioners enjoyed themselves as one big St Charles Tudhoe family.
The parish would like to thank everyone who came out to support our Parish Family Day. “All are welcome at the St Charles RC Church,” said Fr Anthony. “Join us every weekend for Mass, on Saturday evening at 5pm and Sunday morning at 10am.
