Members of the Police, Durham County Council, and Bishop Auckland and Shildon Area Action Partnership joined forces recently to celebrate new services offering support to young people and parents of young people misusing alcohol.
Between 60 and 70 people attended the event, which took place at Shildon Civic Hall; the event was aimed at community representatives, Durham Constabulary and referral agencies, so they could learn more about the project.
The new services include a Detached Alcohol Worker, from the Liberty from Addition team, and an Alcohol Outreach Worker, from the 4real team. The Alcohol Outreach Worker will target the core of the problem by going out on to the streets to engage with young people on their level.
