Residents are warmly invited to an evening of songs and stories about Shildon and its part in the historic first steam-hauled passenger railway line, the Stockton & Darlington Railway.
The songs are written by Citizen Songwriters and performed by singers and musicians from the project along with the newly formed Shildon Institute Singers.
Original music is by Citizen Songwriters and Shildon Institute Singers featuring stories and songs all about Shildon.
The concert takes place on Friday 1st April, with doors open from 7pm for a 7.30pm start.
Shildon has a deep tradition of community music and singing groups extending back generations; something that has always helped bring people together through thick and thin.
Most of the music was written in the summer of 2021 in collaboration with residents of Shildon at community songwriting workshops.
The songs that emerged capture the stories of people who have lived, worked and travelled on the railway in Shildon and form a celebration of Shildon’s unique history in shaping world-wide rail travel.
Tickets must be booked via Eventbrite. Tickets prices are on a ‘Pay as you Feel’ donation basis. Please note there is a minimum of £1 required to book via Eventbrite.
