Chilton to host fireworks display

Chilton Town Council has announced that the town is set to have its first fireworks display in years on Friday 3rd November at the Charlie Wayman Playing Fields (opposite West Chilton Terrace).

Funfair rides and catering will be available from 6.15pm, however the grand finale will be the fireworks display at 7.45pm. Residents are asked to note that there will not be a bonfire.

A spokesperson for Chilton Town Council said: “This event is strictly for residents of Chilton and entry to the Charlie Wayman Playing Fields will be by ticket only.

“In order to get your tickets, please call in to the Town Council office with proof of your address by Monday 30th October.

“We are open Monday to Friday between 9am and 3pm.

“It is recommended that children are accompanied and, as there won’t be any designated parking, residents are asked to walk to the event to alleviate parking and traffic problems.

“The event this year is free of charge and has only been made possible thanks to both Chilton Residents Association and County Councillor Christine Potts, who have both donated £1,000 towards the event.

“The Town Council have enlisted a specialist company to carry out the fireworks display.

“However due to the nature of the event and in the interests of public safety, the Town Council need volunteers to assist on the evening.

“If anyone is interested in volunteering please call into the Town Council and register by Friday 20th October.

“We really hope that the event runs smoothly and is a huge success as this will determine, along with funding, if a fireworks display could be added to the town’s social calendar in the future.”
