Astrid Academy of Movement, a small local acrobatic gymnastics club based in Kirk Merrington, will be showcasing their skills in Ferryhill next month before heading for the trip of a lifetime to Paris.
The club is taking a team of 20 gymnasts aged from nine to 22 years to perform at Disneyland Paris’s Gymnastique Magique competition and are taking 19 routines to perform to a larger audience.
“This is the club’s very first international event,” saoid head coach, Hannah Reader, “and we couldn’t be more proud of our gymnasts. Before we travel, we are hosting a showcase of their routines on Saturday 5 October, from 6pm at Ferryhill Leisure Centre, with ticket sales going towards funding the trip.
“We would love the public to come and support our team.”
Tickets are on sale now at £10 per person with youngsters from two years and under sitting on a lap free of charge.

“We would love to see you there,” said Hannah, “and would appreciate the support from locals. As we are a small club, we need all the help we can get.
“Our members have also been participating in sponsored walks, bag packs, car boot sales and more to try and raise funds for such a large trip.
“We have managed to get two amazing sponsors which has helped to buy the team’s kit, but we are still trying to raise more.
“We also have a GoFundMe page and every little helps, so if anyone is able to donate the team would be ever so grateful.”
