Chilton fireworks display

As reported in last week’s Chapter, Chilton Town Council has organised a fireworks display for Friday 3rd November at the Charlie Wayman Playing Fields (opposite West Chilton Terrace).

Fun fair rides and catering will be available from 6.15pm with the fireworks display at 7.45pm.

There will not be a bonfire and spectators are prohibited from bringing along sparklers and fireworks. Further to a meeting to finalise the formalities with the Safety Advisory Group, it has been decided a maximum of 1,000 spectators can attend.

Tickets are for Chilton residents only and will be issued on a first come first served basis.

To gain entry on the night residents must have their ticket. Tickets are available from the Town Council during opening hours (Mon – Fri 9am – 3pm) with proof of address.

It is recommended that children are accompanied and residents are asked to walk to the event to alleviate and parking and traffic problems. A road closure will be enforced.

The free event has been made possible due to donations from Chilton Residents Association and County Councillor Christine Potts.

The Town Council have enlisted a specialist company to carry out the fireworks display. However, due to the nature of the event and in the interest of public safety, the Town Council need volunteers to assist on the evening.

Anyone interested in volunteering is asked to call in to the Town Council and register by Friday 20th October.

A spokesperson for the Town Council said: “We really hope that the event runs smoothly and is a huge success as this will determine, along with funding, if a fireworks display could be added to the Town’s social calendar in the future.” For further details call the council on 01388 721788.
