Key Stage One children at Broom Cottages Primary School have been enjoying learning about the Great Fire of London.
The children made some models of houses circa 1666 in art class, which they then placed in a row on the school yard as if it were a London street. The fire brigade went along to show children how the Fire of London spread so quickly.
The first model house was set alight and everyone watched as the fire took hold and the flames spread along the ‘street.’
The firemen then put out the fire with their hoses before speaking to the children about fire safety and keeping safe on Bonfire Night.
“We would like to thank Spennymoor Fire Brigade for visiting the school and passing on such useful information,” said a spokesperson for the Broom Cottages.
