Yet another superb lunchtime jazz gig courtesy of #bishopaucklandjazz house trio. This time they welcomed Noel Dennis on trumpet and flugelhorn and he kicked off with The Good Life, followed by Moon Alley, Nostalgia at Time Square, My Funny Valentine, Love For Sale, All Blues and Au Privave.
The place was bouncing with delight as a near capacity audience enjoyed wonderful solos from Noel, pianist Dean Stockdale, superb skills and effects from drummer Tim Johnstone and the ever-engaging Mick Shoulder on bass. It was a wonderful mix of ballad, Latin and Bebop classics which left us all musically satisfied and enriched. We are so lucky to have such great artists performing in Bishop Auckland.
The next gig welcomes British jazz legend and multiple British Jazz Awards winner Alan Barnes on February 27 at 1pm. This is a special gig in addition to the monthly dates which catches Alan on his travels in the North. This will once again be at the Bishop Auckland Methodist Church with tickets on the door at £10 only.
