William Burleigh, aged 13, is set to represent Team GB at the World Cadets Taekwondo Championships.
Earlier this year, William, who trains at Chi Taekwondo in Spennymoor, attended two ranking events where he secured gold at both, earning him top spot and selection to go to the World Championships. He will be in the Cadets Minus 65kg category.
The event takes place in Sofia, Bulgaria and Team GB will fly out on 25 July with William competing on 28 July.
Coaches Marissa and Russell said they couldn’t be any prouder of William’s achievements through his hard work and dedication: “He’s making his dreams become reality and we wish him all the best for the competition,” they said.
