Welcome to the first edition of your new free community newspaper, written for the people of Bishop Auckland about Bishop Auckland. This publication is produced by Community Newspaper Support Ltd, a not-for-profit company which already has two extremely popular and successful newspapers, The Town Crier in Shildon and The Ferryhill & Chilton Chapter, both of which have been running for over ten years.
Each paper is unique to each town, providing relevent local news, events, and information to residents.
The paper will be delivered fortnightly to every home in the town.
A spokesperson for the Bishop Press said, “We are very excited about venturing into Bishop Auckland and hope that residents of the town will benefit from this publication as much as those in the neighbouring towns benefit from theirs.
“We are aiming for this paper to become a unique part of Bishop Auckland’s culture, raising community spirit and an awareness of the achievements and events that are constantly taking place in the town.
“The ethos of the Community Newspaper Series is to get the public as involved as possible, whether by simply informing us of an event or having a go at writing an article themselves, and we hope people will take advantage of our publication, keeping the town informed about what is going on around them.”
So if you have an event coming up, from a fundraising night to a Golden Wedding, contact the Bishop Press team on 01388 775896 or email bishoppress@yahoo.co.uk.
You can also leave correspondence in Woodhouse Close Library or the Town Hall Library in an envelope addressed to us.

Great that you got this off the ground. I like the layout as i’m a big fan of WordPress myself. I use it on my own blog and it’s incredibly flexible. I’m considering rehashing the Ferryhill & Chilton Chapter website soon, so might use WordPress to do the job there too.
Keep up the good work!
