This week, to coincide with the launch of the new Unitary Authority in County Durham, a new swimming initiative is also set to make waves.

All ten public swimming pools across County Durham, including Bishop Auckland, are offering free swimming to anyone under the age of 18 as well as to anyone over the age of 60.

So, if you haven’t been down to your local pool for a while, here is the best excuse you’ll get to go and give it a try!

The ambitious scheme is being funded by both Central Government and the County Durham Primary Care Trust and will see free access to more than 800 hours of public swimming sessions delivered every week across County Durham. For more information contact Woodhouse Close Leisure Complex.
