From the start of the school holidays you can go and play in the giant sandpit and have some seaside fun at Locomotion, the National Railway Museum at Shildon.
Once again this summer, the museum’s giant sandpit returns. Build a castle – or even try an engine – with outdoor play throughout the school holidays.
In addition families can enjoy displays of over 70 railway vehicles from the national collection, interactive displays, giant games, train rides (scheduled dates only) and a railway-themed outdoor play area.
During the school holidays the museum is also offering free arts and crafts activities for families every day (donations welcome).
On Sunday 18th August the museum will receive a very special guest with a visit from Fireman Sam. See Fireman Sam at 11am, 12 noon, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm.
“Come along and enjoy family summer fun at the museum,” said a spokesperson.
Please note that access to the sandpit and outdoor areas is weather permitting.
