Bishop Auckland Rotary Club held its Annual Dominoes Tournament last Friday at Derek Ward’s private museum.
Each year, club members and friends of Rotary play for the Dr Sam Young Memorial Trophy and this year’s winner was Kathy Cooke.
The Trophy was presented to Kathy by this year’s Rotary President Graham Barsby.
The tournament was expertly organised by Rotarian John Yeomans and the tasty pie and peas were provided by Kath Yeomans and Lynn Ward.
Profits from the event will boost Rotary Funds so that the club can support our local, national and international charity work.
Meanwhile, on Friday 8 December, Rotarians Joe Ward and Peter Cooke will accompany children and staff from Evergreen School to the Gala Theatre in Durham to watch this year’s Panto, Cinderella.
The Club has purchased Panto tickets for school children for many years and its longest serving member, Derek Priestman still gets involved by sorting out the coach transport.
This year’s Rotary Carol Service and Readings is being organised by Rotarians David Aimer and John Yeomans at St. Cuthbert’s Church, Etherley on Sunday 17 December at 4pm.
The Annual Rotary Christmas Tree Street Collection outside the Newgate Centre will take place on 22, 23 and 24 December.
This year the proceeds will go to the Great North Air Ambulance Service and Blood Bikes.
Bishop Auckland Rotary Club was established in 1924 and currently meets on a Tuesday Evening at Bishop Auckland Golf Club.
