St Mary’s Under 16 Aces took on the Under 16 Kings at BAFC’s Heritage Park in a very exciting and tense game with the result hanging in the balance until the last seconds.
Sam Parnaby hit the post with a penalty in the last few minutes and the Aces raced up the other end to score the winner for a 4-3 result in a very close game.
The Under 16 Aces also won on Sunday 4-2 against New Marske, with goals from Alex Goundry (3) and Leon Roe.
The Under 16 Kings drew 3-3 on Sunday against Richmond, with a hat-trick from Sam Parnaby assisted by Gareth McMahon and Keir Macdougall.
The Under 15s beat Kader 3-2 with three goals from Ellis Tait.
The Under 14s had an exciting game against Nunthorpe but ended losing 2-1 in the final minute with Lucas Hallimond scoring.
The Under 13 Kings lost away at Guisborough with Shane Harland scoring.
The Under 13 Aces had a great 7-0 win over Hardwick Youth with goals from Noah Ellis (3), Finley Hope (2), Adam Micalfe and Harry Lynch. The team then went on to Gateshead Cleveland Hall CaFC in the County Cup Final at Chester-le-Street on Wednesday 15th April.
They came away victorious with a 1-0 win thanks to goal scorer Liam Robson and a brilliant effort from the entire team. Curtis Layfield earned man-of-the-match with a fantastic display at right back, while Thomas Bytheway pulled off two spectacular saves one after the other with barely seconds to go, ensuring a win for the St Mary’s side.
A crowd of over 200 gathered at the Durham County Ground to watch the Bishop Auckland team take the cup – the first time any St Mary’s team has done so.
The Under 11 Aces also had a good win over Saxon Juniors by 2-0 with Ryan Byrne scoring both.
The Under 10 Kings lost against Newton Aycliffe Youth with Daniel Lowther man-of-the-match.
The Under 10 Aces lost out 2-1 at Norton & Stockton with Danny Shaw scoring.
The Under 9 Aces lost out to Stockton Town in a very close game by the odd goal with goal scorers Jay Binks and Arrun Roe.
The Under 9 Kings had a good friendly win over SRC with goals from Arron Maughan along with Ethan Flint man-of-the-match.
The Under 8 Kings had a great win over Norton & Stockton Blacks with goals from Cobie Woods, Ben Crinnion, Taylor Brownson and James Whales. The Under 8 Aces also had a great away win over Norton & Stockton Ambers with goals from Jake Pinkney (2), Leon Parker (2), Charlie Berry, Dylan Robson and man-of-the-match Finley Rose. They now have 3 games left having only lost 1 league game all season. They also need just 1 more point to win the 1st division league.
The Under 16 Aces played away at Kader and had a great 2-0 win with two goals from Thomas Wilkinson followed by a great 1-0 win away at top-of-the-table Stokesley with Thomas Wilkinson scoring again.
The Under 16 Kings lost to Billingham but then played Greatham away in a much better display, drawing 2-2 with goals from Sam Parnaby and Harry Coulthard.
The Under 8 Kings played in their last 5-a-side indoor tournament and managed to get all the way through to the final, winning three games and going through in the semi-final on penalties, but eventually losing in extra time to Marton Whites in the final.
The Under 18 Angels played Spraire Lasses at home in a blustery wind, and it was the Spraire girls who took away the points with a 5-2 win. St Mary’s goals came from Emily Eggett and Heidi Coulthard.
The Under 12 Angels played St Cuthbert’s in a very close game and were unlucky to come away 2-0 losers.
