The Sanctuary counselling service in Shildon is asking people to turn an ordinary little shoebox into a Merry little Christmas, for needy children in our neighbourhood.
A spokesperson for the Sanctuary said: “It is so easy to donate a shoebox of gifts. Just choose whether to donate a box for a little boy, or a little girl under 10 years, wrap an empty box in nice paper, after stuffing it with small toys, sweets, hat, scarf, slippers, sweater etc.
“Then bring it to The Sanctuary, 4 Main Street, Shildon on any Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday morning before 20th December.
“Alternatively, pop along to the Indoor Market in Shildon Civic on Tuesday 5th December where you can also find us.
“We’ll then take all the boxes and hand them to Santa so that he can give them to less fortunate boys and girls for Christmas.” For more details, call the Sanctuary on 01388 773598 or email enquiries@shildon-sanctuary.org.
