Tridonic are proud of the success of the Tridonic Academy, developed in partnership with New College Durham to help inspire, develop, and support the next generation of manufacturing talent.
The Academy was established to provide students with real-world experience, industry knowledge, and clear pathways into employment within advanced manufacturing. Through a combination of classroom learning, practical activities, site visits, work experience opportunities, and employer engagement, students gain valuable insight into the exciting careers available within our industry.
One of our greatest success stories has been seeing students progress directly from the Academy into employment at Tridonic. Following the successful recruitment of Academy student James Trugill, we are delighted to announce that we have employed another student from the Tridonic Academy this year. This continued progression demonstrates the strength of the partnership and highlights the opportunities available for motivated young people looking to build a career in manufacturing.
The relationship between Tridonic and New College Durham extends beyond student development. As part of our ongoing collaboration, we recently welcomed two lecturers from the College’s Advanced Manufacturing department, Nathan Carter and Marc Peregrino, to Tridonic for a two-day industry visit.
During their time with us, Nathan and Marc gained first-hand experience of our manufacturing processes, spending time across several departments including Production, Research & Development, Quality, Engineering, Logistics, and Continuous Improvement. The visit provided an opportunity to observe current industry practices, technological developments, and manufacturing techniques while exchanging valuable knowledge and ideas with our teams.
These visits are incredibly important as they help ensure teaching remains aligned with modern manufacturing practices, allowing lecturers to bring current industry knowledge back into the classroom and better prepare students for future careers.
The continued success of the Tridonic Academy demonstrates what can be achieved when education and industry work together. By investing in young people, supporting educators, and creating clear pathways into employment, we are helping to develop the skilled workforce of the future while strengthening the manufacturing sector within our region.
At Tridonic, we firmly believe that every student, regardless of their background or qualifications, has a role to play in manufacturing, and we remain committed to creating opportunities that allow future talent to flourish.
