Health Express, in partnership with Shildon Town Council and local organisations, hosted a Fun4All event for children, young people and families in Hackworth Park last Wednesday, 5th August.
Families attending the healthy fun day enjoyed a free climbing wall, archery, football and tennis, as well as free bottles of water and free ice creams.
‘Human MOT’ health checks were also carried out, funded by Health Express and Cllr Brian Stephens’ Neighbourhood Budget.
Shildon Alive! and Shildon Ignite were in attendance, raising funds by selling home-grown veg and asking people to guess the weight of their ‘baby’ marrow!
There is more fun on the cards for the town’s youngsters next week, when Jubilee Fields Community Association presents a Family Fun Carnival Day on
Wednesday 19th August, between 1pm and 3pm at Jubilee Fields.
Shildon SureStart Centre will be hosting old fashioned games, arts ‘n’ crafts, a photo booth and hook-a-duck. There will also be a visit from a fire engine and sports activities hosted by ParkLife, including archery.
Refreshments will be available from Jubilee Community Centre.
“So come along and have some family fun,” said a spokesperson.
