Local girl, Vivienne Henderson, a teacher at Timothy Hackworth Primary School, retired on Friday 18th July after 29 years of loyal service.
Vivienne, 60, was born in Shildon but now lives in Leasingthorne with her husband Gordon. She said she has thoroughly enjoyed her time at the school, especially teaching the foundation stage youngsters. She said she will miss the children and all the staff.
For her last day at work the school has organised a party with a magician, while on Saturday 12th July she celebrated her retirement with a meal with all the staff at The Pavilion restaurant in Consett. She plans to relax a little and take some holidays, as well as looking after her two grandchildren.
Head teacher Anne Dockray said, “Mrs. Henderson is retiring after 29 years as a teacher and she has taught more than one generation of many families. She has been a dedicated and thorough professional and we are very sad that she is leaving, but wish her every happiness for her retirement.”
