Early in the month, Tony Sanderson handed over the Rotary Club’s Presidential Chain of Office to Graham Barsby, writes John Yeomans. Outgoing president, Tony and his wife Pat hosted a Prosecco and Strawberry event at Bishop Auckland Golf Club, where entertainment was provided by singer, Sam Naylor.
Rotarian Bill Robson and his wife Jill kindly hosted our Summer BBQ at their home on Woodhouse Lane. Heavy rain did not deter some of the guests from enjoying their food in the gazebos set up in the garden. A big thank you to Bill and Jill once again for their hospitality. Over £500 was raised, which will support our charitable giving.
At a recent club meeting, Marilyn Weerasingh, the Captain of the Bell Tower at St Andrew’s Church gave an informative talk on the history of the church and its magnificent eight bells. The club was pleased to make a donation towards the cost of replacing the ageing bell ropes.
The Rotary Club of Bishop Auckland meets at the golf club every Tuesday evening from 6:15pm for 6:45pm. If anyone is interested in coming to one of our meetings or joining Rotary, please contact Bill Robson on 07989 825271. Check our website for more information.
