Successful Horticultural Show

How do you like them onions? Some of the produce on show at this year’s inaugural show.

In the stunning setting of the Auckland Project grounds, a feast for the eyes of fabulous flowers, vegetables and home produce was displayed for all to see on Saturday 23 September.

Fresh from shows including RHS Wisley, Harrogate and Malvern, the dedicated prize-winning growers were out in force for the inaugural Bishop Auckland Horticultural & Produce Show, along with many other exhibitors, young and of more experienced years, from around the region.

The organisers were amazed at the community spirit which brought together the Auckland Project staff, ably assisted by Pollards Allotment and Hathaway Roofing volunteers helping to pull off a stunning show.

“We hope that the many visitors enjoyed their visit as much as the volunteers enjoyed the experience,” said Liz Drake, secretary of the Pollards Allotment Association. “All proceeds from the sale of exhibits will be donated to Wear Rivers Trust”.

If you are interested in taking part to make it even bigger and better show next year, call 07931 792723 for advance notification of the next event.
