St Mary’s Under 14s took part in the Butlins Skegness Tournament over the May Bank Holiday Weekend.
They beat Bradford United 5-1, Pemberton FC from Wigan 6-0, East Coast Juniors from Lincoln 9-0 and Monkseaton Juniors from the North East 2-0 to breeze through their group and into the semi-finals.
They met the eventual winners of the tournament Hetton Juniors and lost a very tight game 2-0, but this did not deter the lads as they enjoyed a fantastic weekend.
All the players were presented with their trophies by England legend Bryan Robson, and striker Callum Thomson came away from the tournament with the biggest accolade of all as he won the ‘Player of the Tournament’ award due to his all-round play and having scored ten goals!
St Mary’s Under 14s were also presented with their new strip before the weekend. Manager Anthony Stout, players and all parents would like to thank Darren Simpson ( Proprietor of Roofrite Services) and Anthony Harrop (Proprietor of B and A Design and Manufacturing) for their kind donation towards the full cost of the kit.
The Under 15s had a great 5-3 win over second placed Boro Rangers to secure third place in the league in their last game, with goals from Ethan Dixon (2), Callum Guy, Cameron Tague and a superb 30 yard free kick from Cameron Hall-Brown, along with Luke Evans man-of-the-match.
The club also has three cup finals for the Under 7 Kings, Uner 11 Kings and Under 13 Aces on May 17th at Rockliffe Hall, Hurworth – Boro’s training ground.
On June 13th the Club Presentation Night will be taking place at St John’s RC School, while on June 20th the ‘Birth of the Two Blues’ dinner night will be held at Auckland Castle.
On July 18 and 19th the Club Tournament is taking place with a few places left for teams at all ages.
St Mary’s are setting up an Under 17’s Team next season in conjunction with Bishop Auckland F.C. and are looking for a manager and a coach with experience to help train these players up to a senior level so as they can progress to Under 18 and adult level.

On Saturday 30th May St Mary’s are hosting an Under 14s and 15s re-enactment football festival of the old Amateur Cup days, in association with Durham Amateur Football Trust. The event takes place at Auckland Castle from 1pm.
