An eight-team mini tournament took place last Saturday and St. Mary’s U10 Kings won 2 and lost 1 in the group stages, followed by a close win in the semifinal.
The final was against Boro Rangers, who had beatenthem in the group match. St. Mary’s were determined to get something out of the game and not get beaten again. With the score at 2-2 and only a few minutes left, it was goal keeper Piotr Banda who pumped a long clearance upfield and, with the Boro keeper misjudging the bounce, the ball went straight into the net for St. Mary’s to go on and win the cup.
The U7s have now gone 12 games unbeaten in the league.
The U9 Aces played Newton Aycliffe and scored two great goals from Robbie Wilkinson and Danny Shaw, with Finley Stevens MOM. The second game followed with Luke Pinkney scoring the only goal of the game and George Tinkler MOM.
The U9 Kings played Golden Flats and had a great 2-1 win. Goals from Luke Mitchell and Lennon Seymour with goal keeper Eric Wood MOM.
The U10 Aces played a good game against Billingham but had to make do with a 1-1 draw with Cameron Bass scoring.
The U11s also had to be content with a 2-2 draw away at Cargo Fleet with goals from Jack Purdham and Oliver Johnson.
The U12 Kings had a great 4-3 win over Newton Aycliffe with goals from Nathanial Smith (2), Jack Glasper, Charlie Ellison and Curtis Curl MOM.
The U13s had a great 5-1 win over Kader with goals from Mark Parvin (2), Carl Stout, Zak Holywell and Callum Thompson.
The U15 Aces had a great 4-0 win away at Billingham with goals from Kieran Alderson, Zac Barrigan, C Maxfield and Steven Taylor.
The U16s had a good draw away at 21 Allstars with Adam Gillies scoring.
The U15 Angels had a great 5-4 win over Seaton Carew girls with goals from Shannon Reed, Victoria Rodgers, Dani Stephenson, Brodie Grayson and Heidi Coulthard. The U15 Girls are now starting to fund raise for their trip-of-alifetime, with the chance to play in the Barcelona Junior Cup competition next July.
