The enterprising members of Sedgefield’s St Edmund’s Church have been hard at work planning the fourth Christmas tree festival for the town.

“We are delighted that over 30 groups have responded so positively to the theme of ‘Christmas Around The World’,” said Michael King, one of the band of organisers.

The festival will be opened on Saturday 2nd December at 10am by former ITV News presenter, Pam Royle, and Gold medal Paralympic rugby player, Jack Smith MBE.

The festival will be open daily 11am – 4 pm until Sunday 10th December, after the morning service.

On Sunday 3 December there will be an afternoon concert by Alex Ord followed by the Sedgefield Ukulele Group.

On Tuesday 5th December at 7-30pm, there will be a concert by Ferryhill Town Band, which is always a hugely popular event.

“Our three Christmas Tree festivals have been a great success and were much appreciated by the local community and visitors from a wide area”, said Brian Mutch, Emeritus Church Warden.

“Leaders of local businesses and community groups also enjoy the event because it gives them an opportunity to highlight the valuable work they do.”
