Some of the children from Spennymoor and surrounding areas enjoyed Easter activity sessions packed full of making new friends, learning new skills, and having lots of fun, writes a spokesperson from Learning a New Way CIC.
Learning a New Way CIC welcomed school aged children to two sessions during the holidays. It was lovely to meet some new children as well as welcoming those that come to our other sessions. Our leaders were particularly proud of how children familiar with the service welcomed those attending for the first time, and all the children showed kindness and encouragement to each other.
The sessions were jam-packed with fun things to do, we were very lucky with the weather and managed to have some brilliant time outside enjoying a scavenger hunt and a trip to the park. The children also got very creative making spring pictures and dangly legged sheep! We also had some fabulous creations during our Lego challenges.
All the children enjoyed a meal and snacks during each session. The ‘make your own’ lunch station was a particular hit, with children able to try new foods and learn food preparation skills.
We would like to say a big thank you to all the families and children that helped to make the sessions such a success, and our funders too, Durham County Council and the National Lottery.

But you don’t have to wait until May, our weekly group, The AFT Lunch Club, runs each Saturday morning from 11-12.30pm. On the first Saturday of every month the club runs from Tudhoe Community Centre and then Spennymoor Youth and Community Association on the other Saturdays in the month – children are welcome to attend sessions at either venue. We are really looking forward to welcoming you.
