Spectrum (North East) Roller Skating Club hosted their first ever Gala on Sunday 18th June at Darlington Dolphin Centre and returned with a spectacular haul of 33 trophies.
The club, which skates at Sunnydale Leisure Centre, invited Tees Valley Club based at Middlesbrough along to share the experience.
In total 40 skaters competed in the five hour Gala which catered for all ages and ability.
The final showcase performance was a demonstration by former British champion and international skater, Amy Berryman who was invited along as guest of honour.
Amy performed her freedance routine which was inspirational for the aspiring skaters.
“I would like to thank all the competitors for their fabulous performances, their families for coming along and supporting,” said club coach and event organiser, Tracy Stevens.
“I would also like to thank the team of helpers who organised the event and all the amazing judges who gave up their time to help us.
“I’m proud that roller skating is a growing sport in our area and more people are getting involved.
“For six of our Spectrum skaters this was their very first skate in front of an audience, so well done to all who took part as that itself is a big achievement!
