Having qualified for the Junior British Legaue in July, Bishop Auckland Table Tennis Club Boys team had a great start to the season, finishing the first weekend top of the table.
The Junior British League sees the best clubs from all over the UK come together to compete across eight Boys and four Girls divisions, with over 300 talented table tennis players taking part at Derby Arena.
Bishop Auckland Girls team – having won promotion to Division two last year – saw a change of personnel.
The team saw 12-year-old Anya Milne and 13-year-old Amy Mold debut alongside 15-year-old Gracie Edwards.
The young team, possibly the youngest team in the hall, found the going tough but, although unable to win any of their matches, put in some great performances, showing real promise for the future.
They went down 5-1 to Halton, Ashford, Ulster and Fusion and a narrow 4-2 defeat to Swerve, giving them plenty of experience to work on for next time.
The boys team of Sam Hume, Lee Tinkler, Max Duffin and Harvey McDonald gained three, 3-3 draws, against Urban TTC, Harrogate and St Neots, and two 4-2 wins over Table Tennis Daily and Greenhouse.
The boys were the only unbeaten side in the division.
This undefeated status sees the boys sit one point clear at the halfway stage.
