Shildon Railway’s first team captain Greg Upton led from the front in an emphatic win over Peterlee, in the Durham Cricket League fixture last weekend.
Batting first, visitors Peterlee posted a challenging total of 188 for 7 before declaring. However, opening the batting, skipper Greg had his own ideas and was soon blazing his way to a magnificent 136 not out and leading Shildon to victory in only 32 overs, at 190 for 4.
With only one game remaining, at Silksworth on Saturday, the side sits mid table but it is plain to see, that despite its young age and lack of experience, the side has underperformed this season.
The second team have two remaining fixtures, at home to Silksworth on Saturday and away to Peterlee on Sunday.
