Thursday 28th August saw Shildon RAC’s Middle Distance group head to Cowpen Bewley to compete in the seventh and final race of the Stockton trail series.
After tackling the “The Cowpen Hill” Cameron Stainsby came home in 1st position overall in a time of 10.25. In 3rd position overall and 1st in her age category was Chloe Fairclough as she set a new PB for this course of 11.30. In 4th position overall and 2nd in age grade was Harrison Daglish in 11:37.
The series saw Cameron Stainsby win all five of the junior races which he entered and place 5th in one adult race. Harrison Daglish entered 4 events achieving a 1st, a 2nd and two 3rd places. Ryan Watson made his only appearance at Preston Park and came 1st. Chloe Fairclough ran in six of the seven events winning all of her age graded races.
When the final points were tallied Cameron Stainsby and Chloe Fairclough were declared the series winners of their age categories with Cameron leading the Boys 11-14 category by over 14 points from Liam Chapmen of Middlesbrough (Mandale) and Chloe with 7 points clear of Birtley’s Erin Keeler-Clark in the Girls 8-10 age group.
On Saturday 30th August members were up bright and early to be ready for the nine o’clock start at Hackworth Parkrun.
Joshua Wraith made his second visit to Hackworth Park and set a new U11 boys course record with a PB time of 22.40. His twin brother Thomas made his debut at the run and recorded an excellent time of 22:52.
